How To Find Chaos Rifts?
First, please note that there are only two locations in Diablo 4 Season 10 where Chaos Rifts can be found: Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons, both of which have Chaos Rifts Affixes.
Now, let’s take a look at the objectives in Season Journey Chapters 1-3 to help you locate rifts more quickly.
Chapter 1
In Chapter 1, the objective is very clear: you need to find and disable a total of six Chaos Rifts in Helltides.
So, open the map and head to the nearest Helltides, just as you would for a Treasure Goblin hunt, except this time you’ll be searching for Chaos Rift icon. Once you find one, activate Chaos Rift, destroy it, and disable it. You’ll need to repeat this six times.

Chaos Rift Types And Countermeasures
Now that we know how to find them, or how to locate Chaos Rifts according to the game’s instructions, let’s look at strategies for defeating these rifts.
First, you need to know that in Diablo 4, you’ll encounter four types of Chaos Rifts: Magic, Rare, Legendary, and the extremely rare Mythic. Since Mythic types are rarely encountered these days, we’ll focus on the first three types here.
Magic Chaos Rifts (Blue)
The first and simplest type is the blue Magic Chaos Rift. This is also the most common rift. The only notable thing about it is that it is invincible until you defeat its guardian, Chaos Bringer.
Regardless of which type of Chaos Rift you encounter, your primary goal is to defeat it. The problem is, it doesn’t spawn alone. In this type of Chaos Rift, it always spawns with other minions. To make matters worse, the rift itself deals damage.
So, to deal with Magic Chaos Rifts, the first step is to activate the rift and then immediately flee. Remember, the worst option is to stay put, as Chaos Rift unleashes a massive wave of poison.
Furthermore, you’ll be surrounded by Chaos Bringer and its allies. Their attacks, combined with Chaos Rift’s poison wave damage, can easily kill you.
Once you’re away from Chaos Rift, you’ll find that the wave will part, leaving a path for you to traverse, allowing you to avoid the wave. As the fight progresses, the poison wave attacks will continue, so your goal is to defeat Chaos Bringer. Once you’ve defeated the boss, the Chaos Rifts will become vulnerable, so be brave and destroy them.
Rare Chaos Rifts (Yellow)
Now let’s look at the second type of rift: Rare Chaos Rifts. These rifts are yellow and are more challenging, but they also offer greater rewards in terms of Diablo 4 gold and loot.
Activating Rare Chaos Rifts can lead to a few things. First, you may need to pass through a spire before you can see Chaos Rifts. If this happens, you must wait a few seconds until the spire is destroyed. Once the rift appears, immediately evacuate and follow the same strategy as for blue Chaos Rifts.
Another possible scenario is that you encounter an Aether Lord instead of a spire. This is a serious problem, as these guys can deal a lot of damage, especially as you level up.
Don’t worry too much, however. You can completely ignore Aether Lord and focus your fire on Chaos Bringer, as your goal is always to destroy the rifts. After defeating Chaos Bringer and the rifts, eliminate Aether Lord. This is the better way to survive.
Legendary Chaos Rifts (Orange)
The final type of Chaos Rift you’ll encounter before reaching Torment difficulty is the orange Legendary Chaos Rift. These are the most challenging Chaos Rifts you’ll find, but they also offer the best rewards, such as Infernal Hordes and Diablo 4 unique items.
This type of Chaos Rift will swarm you with a variety of enemies, such as multiple Hellbornes, Desecrators, Aether Fiends, and Aether Lords, and of course, Chaos Bringer and its minions.
The strategy for dealing with them remains the same: activate and stay away from the rift, moving in circles or any other way you like, but avoid being surrounded at all costs. Then, as before, focus on dealing with Chaos Bringer and destroying Chaos Rift.
One last thing: every time you kill a Chaos Bringer, you steal its power for 60 seconds. This means you can use the extra damage to clear Chaos Rifts faster when you find multiple nearby.
